The World Wide Web

Happy birthday to the World Wide Web

Today we’re celebrating the 30th birthday of the World Wide Web, on March 12th 1989 the visionary Sir Tim Berners-Lee while working for CERN went to his boss with a proposal which changed the future.

Not only has it made our jobs as web designers and developers a reality but has continued to change the way we interact with the world.

A few key developments for us over the last 30 years are:

  • E-commerce
  • Gaming
  • Social media
  • Online dating
  • Emails
  • Smartphones
  • Online support networks
  • Advertising
  • Education
  • Video streaming

So many of the items above seemed unrealistic and absurd when first spoken about however, we’ve embraced them completely into our lives. We look forward to what the World Wide Web has to offer us over the next 30 years.
